Disabled is a state in which the port is not usable until it is enabled. If spanning tree disables a port then it must manually be enabled. If you are setting up 2 ports with one intended to be a backup trunk link then the states you are looking for are 'forwarding' or 'blocking'. If 2 identically configured trunk links then one will be put into forwarding state and one will be put into blocking state based on the lowest port cost (mac address in most cases) port to be in forwarding state. If you loop ports then spanning tree will disable them. A LAG is ideal because you can configure multiple ports to be used as a single trunk link if you configure it on both devices.
BPDU protection is a security feature designed to protect the active STP topology by preventing spoofed BPDU packets from entering the STP domain. In a typical implementation, BPDU protection would be applied to edge ports connected to end user devices that do not run STP. If STP BPDU packets are received on a protected port, the feature will disable that port and alert the network manager via an SNMP trap as shown in BPDU protection enabled at the network edge.
The HP 1910 Switch Series are advanced smart-managed fixed-configuration Gigabit and Fast Ethernet switches designed for small businesses in an easy-to-administer solution. By utilizing the latest design in silicon technology, this series is one of the most power- efficient in the market.
- Hello, Need help with configuring spanning tree on my two aruba 2530 switches. Two switches connected with LACP. What is the best practice configuration for spanning tree?
- The only time I've seen (experienced) spanning tree 'issues' was when using the wrong spanning tree version for the topology. If you use RSTP, and you don't have every vlan defined on every inter-switch connection, STP can turn off a connection even if it's the only way a particular vlan can connect.
- To configure the switch to initiate a dynamic LACP trunk with another device, use the interface command in the CLI to set the default LACP option to active on the ports you want to use for the trunk. For example, the following command sets ports C1 to C4 to LACP active: HP Switch (config) int c1-c4 lacp active.

The following commands allow you to configure BPDU protection on VLANs for which the port is a member.
Syntax:
[no] spanning-tree
bpdu-protection
Spanning Tree Configuration Hp Switch
Enables/disables the BPDU protection feature on a port.
Metal foundry download. The Metal Foundry SDX presents one of the most comprehensive recordings in the history of the company, featuring seven unique drum kits spanning 300,000 sound files of raw, single hit drum recordings. Welcome to the metal foundry, the ironworks where the most massive body of drums wait for you to be honed, harnessed and molded into shape.
Default: Disabled.
Syntax:
Tomato access point. [no] spanning-tree
bpdu-protection-timeout
Configures the duration of time when protected ports receiving unauthorized BPDUs will remain disabled. The default value of 0 (zero) sets an infinite timeout (that is, ports that are disabled by bpdu-protection
are not, by default, re-enabled automatically).

Range: 0 - 65535 seconds
For an example of using this command, see Re-enabling a port blocked by BPDU protection.
Syntax:
Enables/disables the sending of errant BPDU traps.
CAUTION: This command should only be used to guard edge ports that are not expected to participate in STP operations. Once BPDU protection is enabled, it will disable the port as soon as any BPDU packet is received on that interface. |
Syntax:
show spanning-tree bpdu-protection
Displays a summary listing of ports with BPDU protection enabled. To display detailed per-port status information, enter the specific port number(s). BPDU protected ports are displayed as separate entries of the spanning tree category within the configuration file.

Ports disabled by BPDU Protection remain disabled unless BPDU Protection is removed from the switch or by configuring a nonzero BPDU protection timeout. For example, if you want to re-enable protected ports 60 seconds after receiving a BPDU, you would use this command:
